With each new week comes a wave of new releases on streaming platforms. Choosing the right shows and movies from the sea of options may not be a pleasant exercise. But don't worry, we've got you covered.

Here is a short list of new arrivals on OTT platforms that should be on your watchlist.

Bogus Phone Operators:

If you're in the mood for a gripping non-fiction show, look no further than Bogus Phone Operators. This crisp 44-minute Docubay original sheds light on a daring scam that targeted senior citizens living in the US. A team of criminal masterminds carried out various forms of extortion to make quick money. This documentary also serves as a biting cautionary tale, highlighting the need to protect ourselves from such new-age scammers who siphoned off our wealth while sitting in air-conditioned, swanky offices.

Bogus Phone Operators is available on Docubay and OTTplay Premium.

Fighter:

It's anybody's guess why Fighter didn't click at the box office. The film boasts all the right ingredients to strike a chord with the masses: an all-star cast led by Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor; a big-scale action drama revolving around heart-thumping aerial action involving the air force, high on glamour, easy on the eyes, and a liberal dose of patriotic punchlines. Yet, the movie didn't work the magic that the filmmakers hoped it would. Maybe audiences had developed fatigue for movies of this ilk. Nonetheless, now that it has arrived in our living rooms , it won't hurt to give it a chance, will it? After all, Fighter is supposed to be India's answer to Top Gun.

Oppenheimer:

They say the true genius of a filmmaker is proven when they bounce back from a crushing box office setback. Christopher Nolan seemed to defy this theory with a clean track record paved with multi-crore blockbusters. Nolan appeared immune to making a flop film. And then came Tenet. The film, released during the height of the pandemic, tanked at the box office and failed to impress critics. In the pandemic's aftermath, many wrote obituaries predicting the end of the cinema-going experience, faced with the rampant growth of streaming services. Just in time, like a white knight in fairy tales, Nolan decided to double down and made Oppenheimer, a 3-hour-long, R-rated movie about a group of sharply dressed men simply contemplating building the world's most powerful bomb. This film challenged every notion about a blockbuster movie in the post-pandemic world. Winning a whopping seven Oscars was just icing on the cake, delivering a resounding response to the naysayers.

Road House:

If you were a '90s kid, then chances are you were a big fan of The Rock. You know, Dwayne Johnson, The People's Champ in WWE. Well, Conor McGregor is The Rock of this millennium. He's an electrifying performer and a great showman. Having made millions of dollars with his MMA fights and going toe-to-toe with Floyd Mayweather in a historic boxing match, he has now transitioned to screen acting, where all his flashy, maverick, and unapologetic attitude can be put to great use. And yes, the film also stars Jake Gyllenhaal in the lead.

Road House is available on Amazon Prime Video
