Ever since Stree 2 was released on Independence Day, August 15, the horror-comedy has been breaking records of other hit films every week. After surpassing Hrithik Roshan's Fighter and Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD’s Hindi collection recently, the horror sequel has achieved another significant feat by beating Prabhas’ Baahubali 2's box office collection. Stree 2 has now become the third highest-grossing Hindi film in the history of Indian cinema with this recent achievement.

Stree 2’s box office collection Day 24

According to box office tracker Sacnilk, Stree 2 has racked up Rs. 507.75 crore net in India over its first twenty-three days. By day 24, the sequel’s total earnings climbed to Rs. 516.25 crore. Notably, these numbers make Stree 2 surpass Prabhas' Baahubali 2’s Hindi collection in India, which was Rs. 510.99 crore.

Now, Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao's Stree 2 is crawling toward Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan and Jawan to claim the coveted title of the highest-grossing Hindi film in India. Jawan, which grossed Rs. 640.25 crore, and Pathaan which made Rs. 543.09 crore still hold the top spot.

About Stree 2

Stree 2 is the continuation of the 2018 horror-comedy film, Stree. The sequel picks up from where it left in the first installment. While the film Stree explores the tale of a wronged female ghost, the sequel introduces a new antagonist, a headless ghost named Sarkata. This new villainous ghost targets women in the town of Chanderi, who are outspoken and independent.

About Maddock's horror-comedy universe

According to director Amar Kaushik, the production house Maddock Films has its own horror-comedy universe, which, apart from the Stree franchise, has Varun Dhawan's Bhediya, Sharvari Wagh and Abhay Verma’s film Munjya, and Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Madanna's vampire film, Thamba.

However, according to reports, the makers are now gearing up for Bhediya 2. Director Amar Kaushik recently revealed that the script is still ongoing, and they are on the verge of developing the screenplay. While speaking to India Today, Kaushik said, “The script is not locked yet, but we have written the story, and now we need to develop the screenplay. I am not satisfied with a few parts of the story, so we are currently working on that.”
