Stree 2 director Amar Kaushik takes a break from Maddock Supernatural Universe for Lust Stories 3? Everything we know so far

Amar Kaushik, who helmed Stree 2 and Bhediya in Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Supernatural Universe, is now reported to be a part of Lust Stories 3. He is likely to be the fourth director to join the franchise after Vikramaditya Motwane (Trapped), Kiran Rao (Laapataa Ladies) and Shakun Batra (Kapoor & Sons).

Amar Kaushik might be the latest addition to Lust Stories 3, and this has everyone on board happy because he is one of the most in-demand directors in Bollywood. "It’s true that Vikramaditya, Kiran and Shakun will be directing three films for Lust Stories 3. The fourth addition is Amar Kaushik," a source confirmed to News18.

Amar Kaushik is expected to bring comical elements to the franchise. While he has explored horror-comedy with Maddock Supernatural Universe, Amar is known for comedy, since he has helmed Bala and penned Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga too.

Amar Kaushik is busy shooting for Thama with Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna and Costao actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Badlapur lead actor Varun Dhawan also plays an important role in the film, for the 'Bhediya' would appear in a major fight sequence with Ayushmann's vampire.

While Thama is a Diwali 2025 release, Amar's Bhediya is scheduled for an August 14, 2026, release. Stree 3, which is among the most-awaited from the Universe, would be out on August 13, 2027. Although the releases were announced for theatres, the makers might make changes in their plans. Apart from release dates being pushed, we could also see filmmakers opt for OTT over theatrical releases (Dinesh Vijan hoped to opt for Bhool Chuk Maaf’s OTT release in the midst of India-Pakistan tensions, but the movie has been put on hold after exhibitors sued the production house over losses incurred, and soon after, Karan Johar’s Dostana 2 was announced as a direct-to-OTT film).
