Subham box office collection day 1: Samantha Ruth Prabhu's film earns just Rs 62 lakh

Subham marks the debut of Samantha Ruth Prabhu as a producer. The horror comedy features mostly new faces and is directed by Praveen Kandregula of Cinema Bandi fame. The makers were quite confident about the film and scheduled special shows in Hyderabad two days ahead of its release. With each passing show, the word of mouth remained positive.

Subham hit the screens on May 9, 2025, and received glowing reviews. However, that positive reception has not translated into box office collections, as the film earned only ₹63 lakh on day one worldwide. These are disappointing numbers and show how the film has been largely overlooked by audiences.

One major reason for this could be the lack of known actors. Subham features three main leads, all of whom are newcomers. The Theri actress promoted the film aggressively, but sadly, Subham has failed to take off at the box office. The makers are now hoping for a turnaround over the weekend.

Subham faces massive competiton from #Single

The other May 9, 2025, release, #Single, opened on a stronger note. The Samajavaragamana fame Sree Vishnu's film grossed ₹4.2 crore on day one, a decent number. Samantha is actively participating in post-release promotions for Subham, hoping to boost its box office performance.

The A.Aa actress co-produced the film with her boyfriend, director Raj Nidimoru of Raj and DK fame. Subham tells the story of three close friends who discover that their wives are possessed by an evil spirit every night at 9 PM while watching a particular TV show. The mystery behind this phenomenon forms the crux of the story.

Zee5 has acquired the digital rights to the film for a fancy price and will stream the film in the first week of June 2025. Stay tuned for more updates on this project.
