Subham is Samantha Ruth Prabhu's debut production, which turned out to be a box office success. The horror comedy is all set to stream on JioCinema (formerly Hotstar) from June 13, 2025, and there is decent buzz around the film, thanks to Samantha's aggressive promotions.
Where to watch Subham in Tamil and Hindi
Ahead of the OTT release, there is growing curiosity about whether the film will stream only in Telugu or in other languages as well. Well, we have learned that Subham will be available in Hindi, Tamil, and several other languages on JioCinema. There will be no delay in the streaming date for any language version, as the film will premiere as scheduled.
Directed by Praveen Kandregula of Mail fame, the film was made on a very low budget. Samantha, known for her roles in Theri, Auto Nagar Surya, and Ye Maaya Chesave, reportedly faced several hurdles in locking the OTT deal. Initially, ZEE5 bagged the rights but backed out after seeing the film’s initial box office performance. Left with limited options, Samantha finalized a deal with JioCinema at a lower price.
She believes that Subham is the kind of film that’s best suited for an OTT audience and expects it to gain more recognition once it lands on the platform. The story revolves around women in a small Andhra town who mysteriously get possessed while watching a TV show at 9 PM every day. Why they behave this way and how Samantha's character intervenes forms the crux of the narrative.
Samantha's cameo becomes a talking point
Samantha appears in a cameo after a long gap, and her role has been well received. Featuring mostly newcomers in the lead roles, Subham was made on a budget of Rs 10 crore and earned just over Rs 20 crore at the box office. Raj Nidimoru of Raj & DK fame co-produced the film and ensured it reached a wide audience.
