Subhash Ghai once announced 'Shikhar' in the 1990s, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Jackie Shroff. The mahurat for the movie was enthusiastically organized in Haryana. Sadly, the film was never made.

The reaseon behind Shikhar getting shelved

Ghai recently discussed the reasons behind the discontinuation of Shikhar in an interview with ANI. "Shikhar had a war backdrop. We had done our mahurat and even recorded a few songs for it. However, we had to shelve the film due to budgetary issues incurred after 'Trimurti' we thought of making a small film and eventually 'Pardes' happened," he remembered.

After Shikhar was shelved, Ghai gifted audiences with his 1997 film Pardes, starring none other than Shah Rukh Khan and Mahima Chaudhary, a debutante. Khan played the part of Arjun, a man who moved away yet nevertheless upholds the traditions of his native land. The theme of the movie was the differences between Indian and Western values.

Pardes proved to be a smash success and a classic. Not just the plot but also the songs of the film became superhit. Atal Bihar Vajpayee, a late politician and former Indian prime minister, actually attended the soundtrack release for the movie.

Shah Rukh Khan's work front

Currently, Shah Rukh Khan is all over the news as he is all set to bring his film Jawan in theatres on September 7. The film is directed by Atlee and also stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi in prominent roles. Besides them, the film also features Deepika Padukone in a cameo role and Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Sunil Grover and others as well.
