Malayalam TV host and actress Subi Suresh passed away on Wednesday due to liver-related ailments in Kochi. The 42-year-old was reportedly undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kochi.

Subi was synonymous with several Malayalam comedy shows and children’s reality shows in the past two decades. The actress made her debut as the anchor of popular Asianet comedy show Cinemala and had also hosted Surya TV’s Kuttipattalam. She was also the host of a show named Labour Room, which marked her comeback after a hiatus from TV.

The actress was also part of Mimicry Artiste’s Association and performed as part of Dharmajan Bolghatty and Ramesh Pisharody’s group in several stage shows. She was also part of Cochin Kalabhavan. Subi had also acted in films such as Mohanlal’s Drama, Suresh Gopi’s Detective and Killadi Raman.

Several Malayalam celebrities including Minnal Murali director and Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey actor Basil Joseph, television and cine actress Sneha Sreekumar, comedian Tiny Tom and singer Sujatha Mohan took to their social media page to express condolences.

While Sujatha reacted to the news of Subi's demise, terming it "shocking and sad", Tiny wrote, "A colleague who has been with me since I began mimicry, farewell Subi Suresh."

Jana Gana Mana director Dijo Jose Antony also paid homage to the actress, saying, "What a shocking and sad news... Gone too soon."

The actress had been undergoing treatment for liver-related ailments for the past two weeks. She had also contracted pneumonia during the time that further worsened her condition.
