Suchitra Pillai: My role in Hello Mini demands respect and devotion without even having to ask for it

Actress, model and VJ Suchitra Pillai is all set for her latest outing as a clairvoyant healer in the third season of the psychological-thriller series Hello Mini, which is set to return on MX Player from April 23.

On taking up the role, Pillai, whose character KD Maa is the head of  a secret cult called Solace, says, “Strong and dynamic characters like this are a once in a lifetime opportunity and really help actors break away from the mould. I think it's great when you get to gather such experiences through your work. KD Maa is a character that demands respect and devotion without even having to ask for it.”

The latest season follows Mini, who after detangling the web of her life, takes a step forward and finds a new job. Mini’s fate makes her stumble upon a secret society and she is led down a dark tunnel when she is faced with a disturbing truth from her past.

Pillai, who has acted in movies such as Dil Chahta Hai and Fashion, also revealed that the process of playing KD Maa required preparation. “A lot of the character’s work relied on facial expressions. The clothes, demeanor, ideologies, appearance – everything about my character and her cult needed to be thought through, rehearsed and modified as we went along,” shares the actor.

The 10-episode season, adapted from Novoneel Chakraborty’s Stranger trilogy, stars Anuja Joshi, Mrinal Dutt, Vikrant Koul, Anshul Pandey, Vibhav Roy, Abhinav Sharma, Nirisha Basnett and Darshana Banik.
