The Indian fandom of Suits has been celebrating the re-arrival of the show in new packaging this week. JioCinema has announced that all nine seasons of the show will now be available in Hindi for non-English-speaking audiences. So, we thought, while we’re about to binge the show (yet again for many), why not warm you up with some piping hot trivia about the cult show that ran for nine long seasons? Suits is one show with multiple pieces of trivia and Easter eggs attached to it. One of the most iconic characters in the show is Jessica Pearson, played by Gina Torres. While we all know the role was initially written for a man and later changed to a female part, did you know the makers planned to kill off Jessica midway through the story? 

Jessica Pearson Would Have Been Killed in Suits?

Well, you read that right. Gina Torres, who played Jessica Pearson, continued in the role until Season 6 of Suits. However, she left the show after Season 6 when her contract ended because her personal life required attention. Her family, including her then-husband Laurence Fishburne, lived in Los Angeles, but Suits, set in New York, was shot in Toronto.

TV writer and showrunner Aaron Korsh had an idea to get rid of her character after Gina decided to quit the show. He planned for Jessica to move to Chicago with her boyfriend Jeff Malone (D.B. Woodside), only to be killed by Larry Marsden (played by Colin Glazer).

“I didn’t think we were going to see it; we were going to hear about it,” Korsh told The Hollywood Reporter. “It was going to shatter everyone, and we were going to do a two-year time jump afterward … I thought that would be a twist you wouldn’t see coming. You might have seen that Jessica was going to choose to leave, but not her death on top of it.” However, fans got lucky as the channel did not approve of that plan, instead opting for periodic cameos from Gina Torres over time.

“I don’t think people can die on Suits,” Patrick J. Adams told Esquire. “It’s still, at its heart, an aspirational show, and it would be so hard to watch these people wrestle with that.”
