Directed by Ashraf Hamza, Sulaikha Manzil also has Chemban Vinod Jose, Ganapathi and Mammukoya in pivotal roles
After a wait of almost a month, director Ashraf Hamza’s wedding entertainer Sulaikha Manzil is set to hit a streaming platform. The movie’s OTT release was expected soon, considering that the other Eid releases – Kadina Kadoramee Andakadaham, Neelavelicham and Ayalvaashi – had hit various streaming platforms the past week.
Sulaikha Manzil, which is also scripted by Ashraf, has Lukman Avaran, Anarkali Marikar, Chemban Vinod Jose, Mammukoya, Jolly Chirayath, Ganapathi, Deepa Thomas, Shabareesh Varma and Adhri Jose as part of its cast.
The movie revolves around a Muslim wedding. Haala (Anarkali) decided to give in to her family’s wishes for an arranged marriage, years after enduring a heartbreak. However, she and her fiancé Ameen, an NRI, have second thoughts as the wedding day approaches. How will they navigate through the uncertainties while also keeping their families’ emotions in check form the plot of the movie.
In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Ashraf, who had previously helmed Vinay Forrt’s Thamaasha and Kunchacko Boban’s Bheemante Vazhi, told us, “The movie’s story spans from the previous day of the wedding to till it’s over. A wedding is also an event that is pregnant with emotions – where you are welcoming people, letting go of those you love. The whole ‘blood, sweat and sacrifice’ aspect is there in every wedding, and the family audience can relate to such films easily.”
That said, the wedding drama is also about how Malabar weddings are a celebratory affair. The movie marked Lukman’s first of the two back-to-back movies as a lead hero. The actor also starred in Jackson Bazaar Youth, which also had Jaffer Idukki and Indrans in pivotal roles.
