After Challenging Star Darshan unfollowed the 6 people he used to follow on social media, including Sumalatha, there were rumours that all is not well between them

Early on March 12, the buzz in Sandalwood circles was about a rumoured rift between Challenging Star Darshan and Sumalatha Ambareesh. A bond of over two and a half decades, during which time Darshan often said that the late Rebel Star Ambareesh and his wife, actress-politician Sumalatha, were also like parents to him, was rumoured to have ended.
What sparked it was that out of the blue, Darshan decided to unfollow the 6 people that he used to follow, namely Sumalatha Ambareesh, Abishek Ambareesh, Aviva Bidappa, D Company, his brother Dinakar Thoogudeepa and his son Vinish Darshan.
Given that Darshan chose to remove even his own family members, the move would not have set tongues wagging, but then Sumalatha’s posts on her Instagram story, which she claims are only philosophical thoughts and not targeted at anyone in particular, set the wheel in motion. While Sumalatha later took to social media to explain that an unnecessary controversy had been created, she also spoke to multiple TV channels to reiterate this.

It is being alleged that Darshan took the step to distance himself from people who did not stand by him during his trials and tribulations, when he was jailed in the Renukaswamy murder case. But then, that would not explain why he’d remove Dinakar and Vinish, who fought for his freedom day in and day out.
Sumalatha stated that she would never use social media for personal communication and added that as far as she is concerned, Darshan was, is and will always be her son. However, Sumalatha chose to not answer queries about whether she or her son met Darshan in jail or thereafter.
The other big news of March 12 was that Darshan, who was last seen in Kaatera , resumed work on his film with director Prakash Veer, Devil, in Mysuru. The actor sought blessings at the Chamundeshwari Temple, before heading to the set for a 4-day schedule, which is being conducted amid tight security.
Devil is still a long way off, so, in the meantime watch Darshan's films like Kaatera, Navagraha, among many others with OTTPlay Premium .
