Sita Ramam, the Hanu Raghavapudi directorial, will be a crucial film for Sumanth for it marks the beginning of a new phase for him as an actor. It’s the first time he has said yes to play a supporting role in a film and one can’t wait to see what he has in store for the audiences. At the film’s trailer launch today, Sumanth expressed his confidence about Sita Ramam’s prospects at the ticket window.
“While all the cast and crew are suited up and very formal at the event, I came here very casually dressed. Next time around, I’ll make sure I do the same. On a serious note, when I first read the 150 page script of Sita Ramam, it felt like an epic poem, exactly what we would call ‘drushya kavyam’ in Telugu. I think it has all the ingredients to be a classic without a doubt,” Sumanth said.
“I play Brigadier Vishnu Sharma in the film, a key supporting role in the love story. I am so happy, moved and proud I could be a part of Sita Ramam. Like you all, even I am waiting to watch Sita Ramam in theatres on August 5. The film is made for everyone to relish it on the big screen and only the theatres will do justice in providing a perfect viewing experience,” he added.
While extending his gratitude to the cast and crew of the film, Sumanth asked, “I hope you all remember the Prema Katha that I did many years ago? The film is regarded as a classic now. Get ready to watch another classic Sita Ramam shortly.” Featuring Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur in lead roles, the film is produced by Ashwini Dutt under Swapna Cinema and presented by Vyjayanthi Movies.
Sumanth’s other releases include the experimental thriller, Aham Reboot (set for an OTT release), the dark comedy Anaganaga Oka Rowdy. His last release was the relationship comedy Malli Modalaindi, that had a direct-to-OTT premiere on ZEE5.
