Anaganaga is Sumanth Akkineni's new film that has skipped its theatrical release and will stream on ETV Win on May 15, 2025. The trailer was released recently and has won the hearts of many. Anaganaga tells the story of a couple who are teachers and serves as a satire on the education system in India.
Sumanth is quite confident about the film's outcome and says that Anaganaga is a husband-wife drama, a father-son story, and also an interesting take on how schools are educating kids today. The Boni actor says that playing subtle roles has always been his forte, and he is known for portraying emotions in a subdued manner.
"If you look at all my films, there won’t be a lot of aggression. I like that approach, and my personality suits such films," says Sumanth. The Malli Raava star also adds that Anaganaga is a script he loved the moment he heard it. "The way multiple conflicts are addressed in the film attracted me to the project. The father-son story is the major highlight, and the emotions the duo goes through in Anaganaga will leave you in tears in a few scenes," he adds.
Sunny Sanjay has directed the film, and Sumanth had great words for him: "Sunny shocked me with his direction skills. The way he narrated the script and executed the film is superb. There is a lot of class in the film, as the emotions speak for themselves. They’re not rushed, and everything happens organically. The emotions between the husband and wife, father and son, and the school and teacher will leave you in tears in a few scenes."
Kajal Chowdary plays the female lead and shares great chemistry with Sumanth. "The husband-wife track is the best part. How a couple working in the same organization fight for what is right and are torn between their duties and their son is portrayed beautifully," adds the Rama Chilakamma actor.
ETV Win has consistently promoted family-oriented content and previously released well-received dramas like #90s and KA. Now, their latest addition is Anaganaga, and Sumanth says the simple, emotion-filled subject matter made it more suited for an OTT release.
"I feel films like Anaganaga don’t work in theaters anymore. They appeal to a different set of audiences, and once word of mouth spreads, many will stream the film online. That is the major reason we opted for a digital release," explains Sumanth.
Lastly, Sumanth addressed rumors about his photo with Mrunal Thakur, which sparked speculation about a relationship. "That was just a random picture. Mrunal calls me Anna. Social media is filled with assumptions, and I don’t want to waste my time clearing them," concludes Sumanth.
The Snehamante Idera actor has signed two more films and says he is open to playing villain or character roles if he likes the script and the director. Well, we’ll have to see how Anaganaga fares when it premieres on ETV Win on May 15, 2025. Stay tuned for more updates.
