The makers of the Malayalam film, Sumathi Valavu, have dropped a major update about its shooting today (August 17). The filming will begin soon as a puja ceremony was held at Chottanikkara Temple in Kochi today. The photos from the function have been shared by the cast and crew of the movie on various social media platforms. In the upcoming days, more information about the project should become available.
There are rumours that the project has horror components. In Sumathi Valavu, Saiju Kurup and Arjun Ashokan are in leading roles. At a Kochi event in May, the project's makers revealed its name - Sumathi Valavu.
Aside from that, it is also thought that the movie is partially based on the true account of the renowned paranormal attraction in Trivandrum, Sumathi Valavu, which has fans of both the actors and movie buffs excited. The supporting cast of the movie includes Gopika Anil, Jean Lal, Niranj Maniyanpillai, Shyam Mohan, Sreepathyan, and Malikappuram-fame Devanandha.

This movie, which is being directed by Vishnu Sasi Shankar and is being produced by Waterman Films LLP with financial backing from Murali Kunnumpurath. For the film, Abhilash Pillai wrote the screenplay. The cinematographer is Dineshkumar Purushothaman. Ranjin Raj is composing the film's soundtracks.
The film is directed by the same people who made the critically acclaimed Malayalam film Malikappuram, a box office smash. The film, starring Unni Mukundan and available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, revolves around eight-year-old Kallu's strong desire to see the Sabarimala temple. But the child's journey is not an easy one until a saviour—CPO Ayyappadas—appears and fulfils her dream.
In this film, Saiju Kurup, Ramesh Pisharody, Deva Nandha, and Sampath Ram have significant roles. The 70th National Film Awards announced Sreepath Yan as the winner of Best Child Artiste (Male) yesterday (August 16) for his performance in this movie.
