Sumathi Valavu OTT release date: When and where to watch Arjun Ashokan's horror comedy

Malayalam's latest film, Sumathi Valavu, will be accessible online soon, according to reports. It has been confirmed by the makers that ZEE5 has bagged the digital rights of this horror comedy.

Following the film's successful six-week run in theatres, the horror comedy will be available for streaming on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium from September 26 in multiple languages. It has also been confirmed that the movie will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi, apart from Malayalam. 

Cinephiles, who missed this film in theatres, are eagerly awaiting its digital release. Even though the plot was predictable, the film received positive reviews from viewers in theatres for its light-hearted moments. For those who occasionally enjoy horror comedies, it can be a good movie, despite the fact that it has some of the same clichés as most of them shown in Malayalam. Another Malayalam film, Meesha, is currently available for streaming on Sun NXT, OTTplay Premium, Manorama Max, and Amazon Prime Video. It was released in theatres alongside Sumathi Valavu.

What is Sumathi Valavu all about?

The spirit of a Tamil woman named Sumathi has been protecting a haunted curve in a remote town for years after her terrible death. Appu, the town's 'nuisance' and a timid youngster who is haunted by this spirit's visions, is next revealed to the audience. The film's central questions are the truth about this uncanny presence and whether Appu and the people of his community would ever be able to break free from her wrath.

Previous reports claim that the film is partly based on the real story of Sumathi Valavu, which is based on a local folktale prevailing in Trivandrum. Abhilash Pillai wrote the script for the horror comedy, which was directed by Vishnu Sasi Shankar. In this film, Arjun Ashokan plays the protagonist role, while Balu Varghese, Gokul Suresh, Saiju Kurup, Malavika Manoj, Shivada, Siddharth Bharathan, Bobby Kurian, and Shravan Mukesh play supporting roles.
