Sumathi Valavu plot overview

The film, set in the 1990s, is based on an eerie folklore from Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram. As per a motion poster released earlier by the makers, the film focuses on a haunted place which is being guarded by the spirit of Sumathi, a Tamil woman. Hence, the place comes to be known as Sumathi Valavu.

For the unversed, Sumathi Valavu director Vishnu Sasi Shankar had previously helmed Malikappuram, which starred Unni Mukundan in the lead. Malikappuram narrated the tale of an eight-year-old Kallu, who wished to visit the Sabarimala temple. The film is currently available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

On the other hand, Arjun Ashokan is currently gearing up for the release of his film Bromance, which also stars Mathew Thomas and Mahima Nambiar. The film will be released in theatres on February 14, 2025.
