The film revolves around a sumo from Japan who gets washed up ashore in Chennai. After a local surfer takes care of him, he gets to know the sumo’s past and intends to take him back home and let him complete his unfinished business.

Sumo features a real-life sumo Yoshinori Tashiro from Japan, in the titular role, who appears alongside actors Shiva, Priya Anand, VTV Ganesh, Besant Ravi, Srinath, Yogi Babu and others. Produced by Vels Film International The technical crew of Sumo includes, music by Nivas K. Prasanna and Rajiv Menon cranking the camera. Praveen KL has handled the edits.

Meanwhile, Shiva is gearing up for the release of his next film Parandho Po, with filmmaker Ram. The film is set to be a coming-of-age story and will hit theatres on July 4. It also stars actors Anjali, Grace Antony and others in prominent roles, with JioHotstar bagging the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film.
