The trailer of the much-awaited Bangla series, Sundarbaner Vidyasagar is out and it hooks you up immediately with its beautiful landscape of mangroves in a village of widows. Directed by Korok Murmu, the series has an ensemble cast including actors like Usashi Ray, Riddhi Sen, Sankar Debnath, Rupanjana Mitra, Pratik Dutta, Doyel Nandy, Kaushik Kar, Sajal Mondal, Sudeep Dhara.
The trailer, which was dropped recently by the makers, shows Riddhi, a nerd indeed, who unexpectedly fails to score a premium mark in his final exams. Exasperated Kinkor (Riddhi Sen) somehow lands in the lands of Kumirkhali where he’s anointed with a strange responsibility to lead a team of widows. Kinkor strikes up a strange friendship with one of the widows and the Bellatrix Lestrange of Kumirkhali arrives to turn this peaceful abode into Thailand for tourist attraction. A powerplay unfolds between good and evil, where a bespectacled and rather incompetent hero rises to the occasion.
The bumbling protagonist, played by Riddhi, immediately strikes a chord for its benevolent approach and a rather humane delivery. The trailer is a strange mix of hunky-dory cotton candy and dark innards. The trailer definitely builds up immense expectations and enough excitement for the series through its quirky soundscape and engaging backdrop.
The series marks the first collaboration between the National Award-winning actor Riddhi Sen and Tollywood starlet, Ushasi Ray. The two create genuine moments of unadulterated fun, which intrigues you. The series is written by Arkadeep Nath and promises to deliver a binge-worthy yarn of screwball comedy, mixed with a dosage of impactful reality. It’s slated to release on March 11. Catch it on Hoichoi.
