Director Suneel Kumar Reddy, who's made a name for himself for dealing with an eclectic range of issues in his films over the years, is taking a dig at the education system in his next release, Welcome to Tihar College. Dr LN Rao and Yakkali Ravindra Babu are jointly producing this entertainer that features Manoj Nandam, Phani Chakravarthi, Krishna Teja, Sony Reddy, Manisha, Mounika and Tanisha in key roles. The film is set to hit theatres on October 28.

Ahead of its release, the makers unveiled the theatrical trailer of the film earlier today in the presence of cast, crew and media. Manoj Nandam hailed Welcome to Tihar College as one of the best films in his career and said he was moved by how Suneel Kumar Reddy mirrored the realities of intermediate students in his story. The filming of the project commenced much before the COVID-19 lockdown and was made while taking several inputs from students into consideration.

The film shows how private educational institutions have become nothing less than a mafia group while putting students under immense pressure to prepare them for competitive exams. In fact, the film's female lead Sony Reddy was an intermediate student when she was offered this opportunity in 2019. The actress shared that the film reflects many of her experiences in a private college and thanked the director for casting her in the project.

Suneel Kumar Reddy stated that education system is in place to uplift the lives of students but it's instead creating so much pressure that it's forcing them to end their lives. "There can't be a better example to state why it's a big failure. I've been a physics and mathematics teacher myself and I know what the students go through amidst this stress. I hope students, through this film, realise that there's more to life than marks, grades and they shouldn't end their lives for trivial reasons."

Praveen Immadi has scored the music for Welcome to Tihar College, a film cinematographed and edited by Sabu James.
