Suniel Shetty feels Hera Pheri is a 'patriotic' film and you'll never guess why

Just a day after Sunny Deol shares news about Border 2 going on floors, Suniel Shetty has called Hera Pheri (and the sequel Phir Hera Pheri) a 'patriotic' film. The movie, which is touted as one of the best comic films produced by India, also features Shetty in the role of Shyam. His statement comes ahead of Hera Pheri 3's theatrical release.

Suniel Shetty was unveiling Kesari Veer trailer, which is where he ended up calling Hera Pheri a 'patriotic' film. While his statement left many confused, the actor had a reason for passing such a statement.

Called an 'expert' on patriotic films, Suniel Shetty said that Hera Pheri is the most patriotic film he has ever come across and for a reason. "Yeh toh desh bhakti ki film hai. Jo desh ko khush rakh sakta hai. Aaj ke bachcho ki problem kya hai na woh mentally khush nahi hai. Hera Pheri aap logon ke liye hai taaki aap mentally khush raho," the actor shared.

He cited the example of how even a poor man's way of living is extraordinary in India. The Gopi Kishan actor shared how those who lack money make up for it with a lot of humour. "Aur Baburao bhai jese ek partner mil jaaye toh aap puchna hi mat," he said.

Hera Pheri 3 update

Priyadarshan confirmed that the scripting for Hera Pheri 3 would commence in 2026. He would get to working on the movie after wrapping up Bhooth Bangla with Akshay Kumar. However, the movie has already gone on floors and netizens could barely hide their excitement upon learning so. This is also rightly so, because Hera Pheri is a cult classic that brings Paresh Rawal back as Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, Akshay Kumar as Raju and Suniel Shetty as, of course, Shyam. The trio, we all know, is iconic and seeing them take the Hera Pheri franchise forward makes every 90s kid happy.
