Sunny Deol eyes action OTT debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali? Everything we know so far

Sunny Deol, who is known as the action star since the 90s, is back at what he does best, this time for his OTT debut. The Gadar 2 actor, we hear, is in talks for an action-thriller. It is also being hinted that Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who has helmed Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat in the past, might direct the project. Here's everything we know so far...

Sunny Deol to make his OTT debut soon?

Sunny Deol will be making his OTT debut with a Netflix actioner, according to a recent report on PeepingMoon. The thriller is expected to be Suparn Varma's third after Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai and Emraan Hashmi-Yami Gautam's upcoming film based on 1985's Shah Bano case. The Azhar actor’s film was announced more recently and thus, the Sunny Deol actioner, if confirmed, is likely to take more time to go on floors.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali directing the action film?

"Discussions are underway with several filmmakers. Including a prominent director who most recently helmed a period drama for Netflix and is currently considered the frontrunner for the job," the portal reported. It is to be noted that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is the latest to direct a period-drama for Netflix. Titled Heeramandi, the series was about royal courtesans.

Film's schedule released

The yet-untitled film is said to be in the writing phase, with Deol almost on-board despite his busy schedule. The actor is currently shooting for Border 2, will commence Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana (featuring 'Rockstar' Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role) and has Lahore 1947 (Rajkumar Santoshi's film produced by Ghajini actor Aamir Khan) as well as Jaat 2 keeping him busy for the next two years at least. He will also be seen in Safar, which could release on OTT soon as well. The streaming date for the movie is not yet finalized.
