While there is news that Ranbir Kapoor has been roped in to play Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, we now hear that Sunny Deol could also be associating himself with the project. The actor is likely to play the role of Lord Hanuman in the film. The movie also stars Sai Pallavi and Yash in pivotal roles.

What we hear

A source told Pinkvilla that Nitesh is keen on having Sunny on board as Lord Hanuman. This is because the actor represents strength (the iconic handpump dialogue in Gadar). However, the two are most probably at the early stages of discussion and thus, it is too early to say whether things will work out.

Standalone film?

It appears that the director is approaching Sunny by saying that he would also like a standalone film on Lord Hanuman. We hear that he might just go ahead and make the film on Lord Hanuman since Ramayana will see him in a rather brief role.

About the trilogy

The Ramayana trilogy will be shot over two years. It will commence from February 2024. While Ranbir and Sai will begin shooting instantly, Yash is expected to join them from July. The movie, much like Brahmastra, will release in theatres at a regular interval.

A recent movie on Ramayana happened to be Adipurush. The film starred Prabhas in the lead role of Lord Ram and Kriti Sanon as Goddess Sita. It starred Saif Ali Khan as Raavana. The movie was heavily trolled for its dialogues and the makers had to issue a public apology for the same. They then released the new version for both theatres as well as OTT. The movie is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
