Sunny Deol appears to be in for a hectic year. The actor, who is now filming Gadar 2 in Lucknow with director Anil Sharma, is also working on a sequel to Apne. Sunny will focus on the Hindi remake of the Malayalam crime thriller Joseph before reuniting with father Dharmendra and sibling Bobby Deol in front of the camera for the family drama.

As per Midday, if everything goes according to plan, the actor will begin filming in April. The Hindi adaptation will be directed by M. Padmakumar, who also directed the original film, starring Joju George. Sunny plans to shoot it from beginning to end this summer. The story has been changed to make it more appealing to Hindi speakers. A source told the tabloid that the plot is now set in Jaipur. The supporting cast will be announced in the near future.

In this 2018 thriller, the titular character, a sharp-witted retired officer, is called on board to investigate a murder. While George's performance got him a special mention at the 2019 National Film Awards, the film's intriguing plot has spurred interest, leading to plans for Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada remakes.

Earlier, during an interaction with OTTplay, Padmakumar said that they are planning to commence the shoot of the Bollywood film by the end of March in Rajasthan. He has been working on the project, and the rest of the cast is currently being finalised.

The filmmaker also revealed that Sunny Deol saw the film and expressed interest in creating a remake, and the project was born. Padmakumar never imagined that this film would lead to his Bollywood debut, but he believes it has something to do with the subject's profundity and universality. Everyone is on the same page for this project in the sense that they want the remake to have the same soul as the original film and not make too many modifications.
