While last week was spent welcoming Salman Khan back to the big screen, Hindi cinema is now preparing the red carpet for another superstar of the ’90s — Sunny Deol. The Gadar star is all set to headline Jaat, a high-octane action saga marking his first collaboration with revered South filmmaker Gopichand Malineni. The film has been generating strong buzz for a while, and just hours ahead of its release, we now have clarity on its certification. The movie has been passed with a U/A rating — here’s everything you need to know.

Jaat Certified U/A

Jaat features a stellar cast, including Gadar 2 star Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda (Swatantrya Veer Savarkar), Vineet Kumar Singh, and others in pivotal roles. The production is helmed by leading banners Mythri Movie Makers and People Media Factory. With music by the sensational Thaman S, cinematography by Rishi Punjabi, editing by Navin Nooli, and production design by Avinash Kolla, the film promises a cinematic spectacle. It has now officially received a U/A certificate, reportedly after undergoing 22 cuts.

The certification was confirmed by the makers in a poster that read: “U/A for #JAAT. Enjoy the MASS FEAST with action-packed cinema. Book your tickets now! #JAAT GRAND RELEASE WORLDWIDE ON APRIL 10th #BaisakhiWithJaat. Starring Action Superstar @iamsunnydeol, Directed by @dongopichand, Produced by @Mythriofficial, @peoplemediafactory & @zeestudiosofficial, A @musicthaman Mass Beat.”

CBFC Demanded 22 Cuts

According to Bollywood Hungama, the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) demanded 22 cuts. These included toning down strong language — one expletive was replaced with Madrjaat*, and others were swapped for milder terms like Nikamma and Besharmo.

Visual edits were also required. A specific gesture was blurred, a scene involving a female officer’s humiliation was halved, another showing inappropriate conduct by a male officer was trimmed, and 30% of a body-cutting scene was removed. E-cigarettes were also taken out.

The CBFC demanded CGI replacements in 10 scenes, including visuals of throat-slashing, an infant being mishandled, a severed head in ice, and a thumb being chopped. Additionally, they edited out imagery involving a Jesus Christ statue, the national anthem on a character’s forehead, and money under people’s feet.
