Amid this, a report suggested that Jaat has faced a backlash from the Christian community and they also demanded ban and legal action against the film. What prompted them to do this? Jaat starring Sunny Deol faced backlash from the Christian community. They have objections to a particular scene where Randeep Hooda is shown standing inside a church, beneath a cross placed above the sacred pulpit, while members of the congregation are seen praying. The scene also features images of bullying and intimidation inside the church, which the community found highly offensive.
The representatives of the Christian community have also mentioned that this portrayal has hurt their religious sentiments and the film has conspired to insult them.
The Christian community had initially planned to show protest outside cinema halls, but it was halted by the police. The representatives submitted a memorandum to the Joint Commissioner demanding a ban on the screening of Jaat. They also demanded that legal action should be taken against the film’s cast and crew under laws related to religious disrespect. The community has warned that if no action is taken within that time, they will intensify their protests.
Jaat, directed by Gopichand Malineni, stars Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda, and Regina Cassandra. The film tells the story of an outsider who comes to a village terrorized by local goons to fight against injustice and brutality. Sunny Deol plays Baldev Pratap Singh aka Jaat, who comes to the village and fights against corruption.
Meanwhile, Jaat will be released on Netflix after its theatrical run ends. Have you watched Jaat in theaters? Share your thoughts on X by tagging us @ottplayapp!
