AI entering cinema has left every artist stressed, and the latest to address the challenge are Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor. When answering a question about Raanjhanaa ending altered with AI, Varun and Janhvi also spoke about how AI has been misused in their life as actors. Here's everything they said...

Ever since AI was introduced, various celebrities have pointed out how actresses have especially been targetted and their videos have been altered with the help of AI. The most memorable is where Amitabh Bachchan had shared a video of Rashmika Mandanna's face being replaced in a video that she was never a part of. Janhvi has been facing something similar, and has finally spoken about it.
“I see on social media how there are so many AI images against my will being circulated by mainstream media portals as legitimate images. Maybe we can tell it's AI, but the common man will think, ‘Yeh toh yeh pehen ke pahunch gayi uske saath.’ So, I don't know what the protocol is,” the actress said at her film's trailer launch.

When asked about Raanjhanaa's ending being altered and AI slowly taking over cinema, Varun said, “Technology does come with responsibility. It can be really helpful, but it can be really misused as well. Right now, we're all having really fun with it, but I feel there needs to be law and regulations surrounding it, especially so that actors and artists don't start getting misused. The rights don't get misused. We can reach a period where you don't need actors at all. So, I think actors have to come with an X-factor to deliver. If you have that X-factor, then you have to safeguard it.”
Janhvi, while pointing out the benefit of how, thanks to AI, filmmakers can give a clearer idea about a character and story, agrees that AI should not replace cinema. "Right now, more people are relying on technological aspect of it, which might be more financially conducive but I'm old-fashioned and really want to preserve what a creative human being has to offer," she said.
