A joint production by Amazon MGM Studios, Excel Entertainment, and Tiger Baby, Superboys Of Malegaon is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, and Reema Kagti. Written by Varun Grover, the film stars Adarsh Gourav, Vineet Kumar Singh, and Shashank Arora in lead roles.

The story follows Nasir Sheikh and his team, who created a parallel film industry in Malegaon and successfully ran it. The movie hit the big screen on February 28, 2025.

According to Sacnilk, Superboys Of Malegaon struggled to attract audiences on its opening day, earning just ₹0.45 crore at the domestic box office. 

This underwhelming start could be attributed to the film’s unconventional release strategy—it is the first Amazon Original film to debut in theaters. The lack of awareness surrounding this format might have impacted its opening. It remains to be seen whether the film will pick up momentum over the weekend.

Superboys Of Malegaon Release Format

With its big-screen debut in India, Superboys Of Malegaon has been the talk of the town. This strategy is part of Amazon’s new approach to create buzz for its projects and bring them to a global audience.

After its theatrical run, the film will eventually be available on Prime Video, but the release window remains uncertain. Typically, theatrical releases follow a 60-90 day streaming window, but since Reema Kagti’s directorial is an Amazon Original, exceptions may apply.

This strategy could also help the film generate additional revenue before it lands on streaming platforms.
