Madhavan's latest offering was a biopic on the former ISRO scientist

Madhavan's latest offering, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, was a biopic on the rocket scientist, who was accused of espionage and was later arrested and acquitted. Nambi Narayanan was present along with the film's producer Vijay Moolan. The picture from the meeting has been doing the rounds on the internet. Though there is no information on what transpired during the meeting, it is said that it was just a courtesy visit.
Madhavan played the titular character in the film, which revolves around Narayan's early days as a student at Princeton University and his work as a scientist and the espionage charges. Madhavan, who made his directorial debut with the film, had said that he worked on the script for seven months and since he had an engineering background, it was a tad easier to grasp things. After seven months of rigorous writing and research, it took him another one-and-a-half year to put the whole script together.
The film was shot in Tamil, Hindi and English simultaneously using live sync sound. Shah Rukh Khan and Suriya make special appearances in the film, and both the actors did not charge a single penny for their cameos. The film was critically acclaimed and also went on to become a hit at the box office. The star cast comprised Simran, Rajith Kapur, Ravi Raghavendra, Misha Ghoshal, Karthik Kumar, Dinesh Prabhakar and Mohan Raman to name a few. Music for the film was by Sam CS, cinematography by Sirsha Ray and editing by Bijith Bala.
Madhavan stated it was his dream to do a project where he could age on screen, on the likes of Kamal Haasan in Mani Ratnam's Nayagan. Madhavan went on put on and lose weight naturally and stated that he did not use prosthetics for the character. He stated that it was a video of Nambi Narayanan that he happened to watch abruptly on the internet that moved him and he decided to make a film on him.
