Suriya 42 director Siva's brother Bala is under treatment for a liver-related illness at a private hospital in Kochi. A photo of Shiva, who looks frightened and worried, visiting his brother at the hospital has surfaced online. In the photo, Siva was with a few other members of the film fraternity, including Unni Mukundan.

Bala was rushed to the hospital after he developed some discomfort. It was revealed that Bala's illness was diagnosed a few days ago and he was under the treatment for the same. However, his condition deteriorated, requiring hospitalization. According to reports, Bala is being treated at the intensive care unit of the hospital. Earlier, Unni Mukundan visited Bala in the ICU and enquired the doctors about his condition.

Siva, who was busy shooting for a big ticket period fantasy with Tamil superstar Suriya , rushed to Kochi to be with his brother. Siva has not issued a statement to the media yet.

There are mixed reports about Bala's condition. Some reports claim that Bala's health condition is improving with the treatment. Others have suggested his health remains worrisome. “The doctors say that Bala had been administered with life-saving drugs and that it would take at least 24 – 48 hours to know whether he is responding to the medication. Rumours that he is unconscious and his condition is severe are false. We entered the ICU and spoke to him. He is not unconscious," producer NM Badusha told Manorama Online.

Bala made his screen debut with the Tamil film Anbu in 2003. However, he didn't find a lot of success in the Tamil film industry. He managed to find some success in Malayalam cinema with films like Big B, Puthiya Mukham, Pulimurugan, Lucifer to name a few. He played a prominent role in Siva's blockbuster Tamil film Veeram, starring superstar Ajith Kumar in the lead role. Bala played one of the brothers of Ajith's character in the movie. He was also seen in Siva's previous directorial outing Annaatthe, starring Superstar Rajinikanth.
