Suriya and his wife Jyotika's 2D Entertainment is all set to present Gautham Ramachandran's upcoming film, Gargi, featuring Sai Pallavi in the lead.

In a statement to the press, the makers of Gargi, said many of life's miraculous incidents happen when they are least expected. “It is just the same for us when Suriya and Jyotika joined hands with us on this project. It gives us immense pleasure to be associated with them. We sincerely thank our distributors Sakthivelan and Rajasekara Pandian, for making this happen.”

Touted to be an emotional courtroom drama, Gargi has Kaali Venkat, Paruthiveeran-fame Saravanan and Malayalam actor Aishwarya Lekshmi in a cameo role, among others.

The makers had announced Gargi on Twitter, on Sai Pallavi's birthday (May 9).

The technical crew includes music composer Govind Vasantha, cinematographer-duo Sraiyanti and Premkrishna Akkattu and editor Shafique Mohamed Ali.

Gargi will also be released in Telugu and Kannada. The project marks Sai Pallavi's debut in Kannada, and she has dubbed her lines. “It's unbelievable how she learnt the language pretty fast. By the fifth day, everyone, including Rakshit Shetty, was in for a pleasant surprise,” Gautham Ramachandran told OTTplay.

He further said, Sai Pallavi was a perfectionist and nailed her role in Gargi. The filmmaker conceived Gargi as a story that needed to be told. “I wanted to cast someone, who is a 'natural performer' and felt Sai Pallavi was tailor-made for that. She has this girl-next-door image. The amount of value she brought to her role is indescribable!”

Speaking about the making style, Gautham added, “We have adopted a fly-on-the-wall style filming, which fuels the drama quotient. It allows the audience to be the witness to the events that unfold on the screen. A certain approach was needed for the telling of that story.”

Gargi is produced by Ravichandran Ramachandran, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Thomas George and Gautham Ramachandran.
