Actor Karthi's upcoming movie Japan is a special film in his career as it's his 25th movie. The producers of the movie arranged a grand trailer launch event for Japan to commemorate Karthi's milestone movie.
The Japan trailer launch took place on Saturday at Nehru Stadium, with the who's who of the Tamil film industry in attendance. Tamil superstar Suriya, the elder brother of Karthi, was also one of the high-profile guests at the event.
The highlight of the event was when Suriya and Karthi shared the stage and recreated the Rolex vs Dilli moment, sending fans of both stars into a frenzy.
A video of the said moment has surfaced online and is going viral. In the video, Suriya could be seen inviting Karthi on stage in an informal tone. As Karthi makes his way to the stage, an important dialogue from director Lokesh Kanagaraj's Vikram plays in the background. The dialogue is related to Arjun Das's character when he tells Suriya's Rolex about Karthi's Dilli. And it was enough for fans to erupt in joy, claps, and laughter.
"Rolex Avan Peru Dilli As always wishing you the best for #Japan @Karthi_Offl Sir, @prabhu_sr Sir , @Dir_Rajumurugan Sir, @gvprakash brother & the entire team," tweeted Arjun Das reacting to a photo of Suriya and Karthi shaking hands.
"When Rolex' standalone movie releases, it will be the next anti-hero film in 10 years after Mangatha!!! Even Mangatha just caught us by surprise! So Rolex' would be the first premeditated anti-hero movie in Tamil history?! Kollywood leapfrogged several decades..!," wrote a fan on X.
"Rolex vs Dilli is a definite masterpiece," said the other.
Director Lokesh is building a cinematic universe, which is popularly known as LCU. This movie series started with the director's runway hit Kaithi, starring Karthi as ex-convict Dilli. And the universe further expanded with Vikram.
At the end of the Vikram, Suriya makes an explosive cameo as Rolex, a ruthless and the most dangerous drug boss.
Lokesh has revealed that he will first finish Kaithi 2 before he starts working on the standalone movie for Rolex.
