Tamil actor Suriya shared a video tribute to late Padma Shri actor-comedian Vivek, on Friday. The video contained Vivek’s witty jokes and trademark laughter from the moments of Tamil comedy reality show ‘LOL Tamil: Enga Siri Paappom’, which was the actor’s final project.

‘He will live forever in our hearts. It’s an honour to share @actor_vivek sir’s last work who made us laugh and also passed on socially responsible in progressive thoughts!”, Suriya captioned the video sharing it on social media. The tribute video ends with an emotional note which reads, “Ungal sirippu endrum olikkattum” (your laughter will echo on forever).

Suriya and Vivek have worked together in some hit films like Singam 1, Singam 2, Maattrraan and Perazhagan. After the multiple blockbusters, Suriya and Vivek shared on-screen space for the last time in the show ‘LOL Tamil: Enga Siri Paappom’, in which Suriya appears as a judge. The unscripted comedy-reality show which will be streamed on Amazon Prime Video, was shot before Vivek passed away in 2021 due to a cardiac arrest.

Vivekanandan, who was professionally-known as Vivek was also a playback singer, a television personality and a social activist, besides being an actor-comedian. His fans called him ‘Chinna Kalaivanar’, after N S Krishnan, the legendary Tamil actor-comedian who was known as Kalaivanar. Vivek was known for his unique style of delivering funny one-liners with elements of socio-political satire. Vivek made a breakthrough in the 1990s after he appeared in several films as a lead comedian. He has won three Filmfare Awards for Best Comedian in Tamil for the movies Run (2002), Saamy (2003), and Perazhagan (2004). The actor was also honoured with the Padma Shri award by the Indian Government in 2009, for his contribution to the field of arts.
