Suriya is set to reunite with the Soorarai Pottru director Sudha Kongara for his 43rd outing in the Tamil film industry. The project, which has been tentatively titled Suriya 43, was officially launched a few weeks back with a special announcement video. Now, the latest reports suggest that Suriya is sporting a new look in the much-awaited project, which is touted to be an out-and-out action drama.
Suriya to undergo major transformation for Suriya 43
If the latest reports are to be believed, Suriya is set to undergo a major transformation for his role in the upcoming project, which has been partially titled ‘Puranooru’. The grapevine suggests that the National Award winner is set to portray different stages of his character’s life, just like in Soorarai Pottru.
And for his portions as a college student, Suriya is planning to undergo major weight loss, and sport a never-seen-before look. The popular star is currently undergoing a strict workout and diet regimen for his look in the film. The reports also suggest that the actor will later gain weight to portray the second look of his character in the film.
Suriya 43 to start rolling in January
Even though initially the makers were planning to kickstart the shooting of Suriya 43 by mid-December, the latest updates suggest that it has been postponed to January 2024. The first schedule of the project, which is touted to be a period film set in the 1960s, will be widely shot in the massive set erected in Madurai.
As per the reports, the college portions of the untitled project will be filmed at the famous Madurai American College. Even though the shoot will start at the beginning of January, Suriya will only join the sets after he completes his weight loss journey.
The cast and crew of Suriya 43
Nazriya Nazim Fahadh has been roped in to play the female lead opposite Suriya in the Sudha Kongara directorial. Popular actor Dulquer Salmaan is playing a pivotal role in the movie. Bollywood actor Vijay Varma is set to make his Tamil debut with the project, as the lead antagonist. GV Prakash Kumar is composing songs and the background score. Suriya 43 is bankrolled by Suriya and Jyotika, under their home banner 2D Entertainment.
