Suriya is gearing up for the release of his new film Retro, which is all set to hit the screens on May 1, 2025. There is solid buzz around the film in trade circles, and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo fame Pooja Hegde is playing the female lead.

On the other hand, we at OTTplay were the first to reveal that Suriya has signed a direct Telugu film, and none other than Venky Atluri of Sir and Lucky Baskhar fame is set to direct him. We also revealed that Mr. Bachchan's fame Bhagyashree Borse has been roped in to play the female lead in this film.
Now, we have all the shoot details of the film. The latest update is that the shooting will go on floors in the first week of June 2025. A massive set is being erected for the same in Hyderabad, and a large portion of the shoot will take place there. We've also learned that filming will kick off with a massive action episode featuring Suriya. Noted stunt master Peter Heins has been brought on board to compose this stylish action sequence.
Venky Atluri has readied a solid story for Suriya
Venky Atluri is known for making solid social dramas, and this yet-to-be-titled film will showcase Suriya in a mass avatar after a very long gap. Suriya had been looking to do a straight Telugu film for quite some time, and the moment he heard Venky Atluri's script, he okayed the film right away.
Sithara Entertainments, the banner behind big films like DJ Tillu, Daaku Mahaaraj, and Lucky Baskhar, is bankrolling the project on a massive scale. Kayadu Lohar of Dragon fame will also be seen in a key role, and the music will be composed by GV Prakash of Kingston fame.
