Surprise! Don 3 director Farhan Akhtar to act alongside Ranveer Singh post Dil Dhadakne Do

Farhan Akhtar was constantly in news since he announced that Ranveer Singh would replace Shah Rukh Khan in the upcoming film, Don 3. SRK was associated with the movie for Don and Don 2. The director received a lot of flak for changing the casting. In the midst of it all, he has now revealed that he is also acting in the movie.

Farhan, the actor

Farhan Akhtar had made his acting debut with Rock On!! in 2008. He has acted in many movies since and the filmmaker, who had made his directorial debut with Dil Chahta Hai, revealed that he will be acting in Don 3 too. He revealed so in an interview with Khaleej Times. Thus, Farhan will be acting alongside the lead of the film, Ranveer Singh.

Not the first time Ranveer and Farhan collaborate as actors

Although it is the first time when Farhan will direct Ranveer, it is definitely not their first time collaborating as actors. Ranveer and Farhan worked in Zoya Akhtar’s film Dil Dhadakne Do. While Ranveer played Priyanka Chopra’s brother in the movie, Farhan was seen as her lover. Interestingly, PeeCee has been associated with the Don franchise as Don’s ‘junglee billi.’

The backlash

Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar received major backlash for Don 3. Shah Rukh Khan fans were majorly upset that the superstar was not a part of the franchise this time around. Netizens bashed the filmmaker for choosing Ranveer as the lead in the movie. A small section, however, pointed out that such major backlash often is when the project becomes a big hit.

What Farhan has to say about casting Ranveer

Farhan is rather confident about Ranveer being cast for Don 3. The filmmaker said that Ranveer has proven himself as a really good and versatile actor. He further said, “I can say that without a shadow of a doubt, he's going to give an absolutely slamming performance in the film.”
