Suzhal–The Vortex, a first long-form original series in Tamil; written and created by Pushkar and Gayatri of Vikram Vedha-fame, is gearing up for its OTT release on June 17. The 8-episode investigative drama, directed by Bramma and Anucharan, promises to be an intriguing ride through events that wreak havoc in a small industrial town, as a schoolgirl goes missing.
Headlined by Aishwarya Rajesh, Sriya Reddy and Kathir, along with Radhakrishnan Parthiban, Suzhal–The Vortex will premiere in Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu, and English, besides foreign languages, on Amazon Prime Video.
The cast of Suzhal–The Vortex spoke about what attracted them to the series. Sriya Reddy says she has huge respect for Gayatri and Pushkar. “I loved everything about their film, Vikram Vedha. I can imagine Suzhal–The Vortex having the same touch.”
Sriya Reddy adds that Suzhal–The Vortex is here to make history in many ways. “It is the first Tamil original series on OTT to have such a massive reach, across 240 countries in over 30 languages. It is going to be crossing boundaries that nobody in the country has seen or heard of!”
Sriya believes that the content of Suzhal–The Vortex is tight and relatable so that people all over the world will enjoy it, resonating with what they witness on screen. “The audience had been receptive to films like Baahubali and Jai Bhim. It is wonderful how they lapped it up, despite those larger-than-life on-screen characters. I feel Suzhal will be in a similar space. It will provide them with an experience to remember.”
A visibly excited Aishwarya Rajesh says, “The series reflects on a small-town case and the story is peppered with elements that will appeal to an audience worldwide, keeping them glued to their screens.”
Further, she adds, “I am delighted that we have been able to deliver a story that is raw, rooted and credible. Suzhal–The Vortex will remain special to me not only because it's an incredible show but also it’s the first time I’m featuring in a digital series.”
Kathir, who plays sub-inspector, feels incredible to be a part of Suzhal–The Vortex. “While a dark mystery runs at the core, the series keeps steering through sharp twists and turns at every instance. As a team, we have put in a lot of effort in bringing to life this authentic, riveting story. So, get ready for some really good nail-biting, edge-of-the-seat drama.”
