The diplomatic relations between India and Bangladesh took a hit after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government. Hasina took refuge in India and that reportedly irked its neighbouring country. The entertainment industry is also affected due to this.
Complications relating to visas are affecting celebrities. Bangladeshi actress Tasnia Farin could not work with Dev in Avijit Sen’s upcoming film Pratiksha because of not getting a visa. Pori Moni could not come for the dubbing of Felu Bakshi. On the other hand, Bangladesh did not give visas and work permits to Rituparna Sengupta and Swastika Mukherjee. Both were supposed to go to Bangladesh this month and shoot.
Swastika plays the lead in Himu Akram’s film Altabanu Josna Dekheni. The shooting was supposed to start this week but did not happen. Rituparna was supposed to work in the film Tori, directed by Rashid Polash. She also did not get a visa or work permit.
Swastika was vocal in support of the student movement in Bangladesh. But now her work was going to get canceled after the new government came into power.
Right now, Swastika is vocal in support of the protesting junior doctors in Kolkata. Rituparna, on the other hand, is out of India. At the beginning of September, she went to Shyambazar to protest against the RG Kar incident but was heckled by some protesters.
