Already hailed by many cinema critics and industry watchers as one of the most anticipated films of 2023, Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye is the maiden production of Ramya and her production house AppleBox Studios in collaboration with Lighter Buddha Films. The film is directed by Raj B Shetty and it stars Raj and Siri Ravikumar in lead roles.

Ramya, who believes the film will make one fall in love with love, shares, "As a first time producer, I learnt a lot on the job. It’s been an unique experience. Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye has come out well and I am excited for everyone to see it. It’s a beautiful, poetic, tender film about love and finding oneself."

The film was launched on Vijayadashami last year and has been shot across picturesque locations. The love story has already created a lot of curiosity with the first look poster as well as the character reveal posters of Prerana and Aniketh, the two protagonists, played by Siri and Raj. Incidentally, when it was launched, Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye was announced as Ramya’s comeback vehicle. However, a few days later, it was then announced that Ramya had decided against doing the film, as she thought a newer face would be better suited for the role.

Speaking to OTTplay, Ramya had said, “Although Raj and I initially thought that I would act too, once the final script was ready, the role felt better suited for a newer, fresher face. I read the script multiple times before taking that call, because I was giving up on a really good role. But then I felt that it is the film that is important. I can’t be selfish as an actor and insist that I do it. I listed my reasons for not wanting to do it, based on elements in the script, and once Raj heard me out, he also agreed that a relative newcomer would be better and that’s when he suggested Siri Ravikumar.”

The ensemble also features Balaji Manohar, Surya Vasishta, Rekha Kudligi, Sneha Sharma, JP Thumminad and Gopalkrishna Deshpande among others. The film has music by Midhun Mukundan, while Praveen Shriyan shoulders the dual responsibility of cinematographer and editor.
