Swathimuthyam’s release postponed, averts clash with Macherla Niyojakavargam and Karthikeya 2 for the goodwill of Telugu cinema

Swathimuthyam, marking the acting debut of Ganesh Bellamkonda, son of producer Bellamkonda Suresh and brother to Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas, is a family entertainer written and directed by Lakshman K Krishna. Varsha Bollamma plays the female lead in the film bankrolled by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi under Sithara Entertainments. The film was to hit theatres on August 13.

The makers of Swathimuthyam have confirmed today that the film’s release has been postponed. Despite being unhappy about the development, they said they didn’t have a choice, looking at the larger picture of the industry. Realising the delicate scenario in Telugu cinema post the pandemic, the makers decided not to compete it with the other releases.

“We have completed the shoot, post production works keeping in mind the release date and wanted to go ahead with the release plans,” read the statement from Sithara Entertainments. The production house said it would evaluate the producers situation and take a call on the new release date soon. “We hope audiences will come to theatres and enjoy films like they used to, going forward,” they wrote.

The supporting cast of Swathimuthyam comprises Naresh, Rao Ramesh, Subbaraju, Vennela Kishore, Harshavardhan, Pammi Sai, Sapthagiri, Goparaju Ramana, Siva Narayana, Pragathi, Surekha Vani, Sunaina and Divya Sripada. The film has music by Mahathi Swara Sagar and is cinematographed by Suryaa. Navin Nooli is the editor and Avinash Kolla is the art director respectively.

PDV Prasad is the presenter of Swathimuthyam. The first glimpse of the film and a single, Nee Chaaredu Kalle, have been launched already. Sithara Entertainments already had two releases this year - DJ Tillu and Bheemla Nayak, both turning out to be successful at the box office. Varsha Bollamma’s earlier release in 2022, Stand Up Rahul, alongside Raj Tarun is currently streaming on aha.
