Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah fans were left worried to say the least when reports emerged that Disha Vakani, who had essayed the role of the beloved character of Daya Jethalal on the show, was battling health issues. Reports had come about that the actress was diagnosed with throat cancer, reportedly caused due to having to maintain her character's unique voice during her stint on the show. Disha’s brother, Mayur Vakani recently set the record straight regarding the actress’ health.

In conversation with ETimes, Mayur slammed the rumours and called them ‘baseless’. The actor revealed that all kinds of rumours related to the actress geared their heads from time to time, and there was not an iota of truth in them. Saying that Disha was hale and hearty, Mayur said “Everyday we get to hear baseless rumours about her but fans should not believe any of these”.

Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal, who essays the role of Roshan Daruwala Kaur Sodhi, revealed that she is in touch with Disha and agreed that the rumours do seem to be untrue. She said that if something like that had happened, she would know about it and the last time they had spoken was towards the end of August. Jennifer said that Disha sounded absolutely fine and the duo had conversed about their daughters’ dance classes.

Mayur also plays the brother of Disha’s character, Dayaben on the show as well. Disha had exited Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah back in 2017, going on maternity leave. The actress since seems to have taken a hiatus from acting,as she has not been seen in any silver screen projects, in any major roles, since.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah holds the record of being one of the longest running Indian sitcoms till date. The show stars Dilip Joshi, Amit Bhatt, Sachin Shroff and Mandar Chandwadkar, among others.
