One character who has been missing from Asit Kumarr Modi's show is Daya Ben. Disha Vakani played the iconic role for several years until she went on a maternity break. Disha hasn't returned to TMKOC in seven years. Recently, a video of former TMKOC actress Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal went viral on the internet. In the clip, she is seen revealing that a young girl came very close to playing Daya's role but was rejected.

A clip featuring Jennifer Mistry Banswal of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has gone viral on Reddit. It has Jennifer stating that a young girl auditioned for TMKOC for 3 years. She was frequently called to Mumbai from Delhi. However, since she was 28 or 29, the age gap became an issue for the makers.
"She is 100% Daya. Ek bechari ladki ko toh malum hai ki 3 saal se uska audition le rahe hain. Delhi se usko bulate hain. The only thing is that she’s very young. I think she’s 28-29 years old, bohot age gap dikhega karke uska nahi hua," she said.
The actress further mentioned that the 28-year-old girl even did a mock shoot with the TMKOC actresses, Dilip Joshi and Tappu Sena. However, nothing materialised with her.
Asit Kumarr Modi on 15 years of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah
In 2023, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah completed 15 years. On this special occasion, producer Asit Kumarr Modi expressed gratitude to Disha Vakani, who was seen as Daya Ben. The producer stated that Disha entertained the fans with her performance. He also promised that Vakani would be back in TMKOC. But there has been no update since Asit mentioned that.
In Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Dilip is seen as Jethalal while Munmun Dutta plays the role of Babita. However, a couple of actors like Shailesh Lodha, Bhavya Gandhi, Raj Anadkat and others left TMKOC.
