Back and better than ever, Taaruk Raina, who melted hearts in Mismatched, is prepared to wow fans with an entirely new persona. Along with Bhawsheel Singh Sahni, Nikita Dutta, and Sahil Mehta, the actor will be seen in the highly anticipated historical thriller The Waking of a Nation. Sony LIV (OTTplay Premium) will debut the series on March 7, 2025, directed by Ram Madhvani and co-produced by RMF, Ram Madhvani, and Amita Madhvani.
The Waking of a Nation explores the circumstances behind the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre and the inquiry conducted by the Hunter Commission into the catastrophic occurrence. The series significantly and intriguingly explores the possibility that a greater power orchestrated the massacre.
In the teaser, we see Raina, who plays lawyer Kantilal Sahni, getting ready to wow viewers with his dramatic and engrossing change.
The actor expressed his astonishment at securing a role in the series and expressed his dismay at being a part of it. He stated that Madhvani trusted him for this and it eludes him every time. His faith, though, is the driving force behind his on-screen actions. Prior to their encounter at Madhvani's office, Raina knew absolutely nothing about him. The filmmaker turned out to be the most pleasant guy he has ever encountered, which was a huge relief because he had heard rumours that he was extremely precise, that there was no room for error, and that there were numerous rehearsals.
It amazes Raina how much love and passion Madhvani has for something he is making, expressing his depth of affection for the filmmaker and his work. It is very remarkable to see someone with such an impressive resume still motivated and eager to produce something groundbreaking. Even if the actor just gets half of that, he will still be successful right now.
Through Madhvani's masterful directing, The Waking of a Nation illuminates India's illustrious past by exploring the conspiracy that led to the infamous Jallianwala Bagh massacre. This new take on a sombre period in India's history under British colonial authority is sure to intrigue viewers.
