With International Women’s Day approaching, it is interesting to see how one of the finest actresses of our time, Tabu is back in police uniform for the Ajay Devgn directorial, Bholaa. In the action thriller film, she will be seen flexing her muscles and flaunting her firearms. It’s said that the makers have created the character keeping the actress in mind.

Speaking about playing a police officer on-screen, Tabu told the media, “I feel very proud of the whole transition really and for the character. The fact that I was chosen for this role was a big deal. For me, it is a huge setup and progress for the character. Usually, we have seen in films that female police officers were not having that many action-packed sequences, but here my character is not only injured on duty, but also she is constantly at it, with her broken hand.”

She further added, “That is why, it was all the more difficult for me to do the action, because I did not have the chance of using both my hands, balancing everything with one hand was tough. Having said that, what is more special is that in the Tamil film, my character was played by a male actor. It was played by Narain sir, but Ajay changed the gender of the character. It is a huge thing!”

Doing action on screen was certainly not easy for the actress. She took a moment to thank the entire team who took care of every actor during the shooting of the movie. “It is surely risky to do the action, because no matter how much safety precaution you take, there is always a one percent chance that you will get injured. That is why, I want to thank our entire action team, the people who did the wiring, designed the actions, stayed there on the set and made sure that all of us are performing actions without any injury. You see, action is fun to watch, but it is very difficult to execute and achieve everything physically. So yes, we needed a group of efficient people for that and that is why I am very thankful to all of them.”

Recently, we saw Tabu playing a police officer in Kuttey and Drishyam. In Bholaa, Ajay Devgn is also playing the title role. The film also features Deepak Dobriyal, Vineet Kumar, Sanjay Mishra and Makarand Deshpande among others. It releases in theatres on March 30.
