Tabu is back in Hollywood after nearly 12 years. The actress, last seen in Life Of Pi opposite Irrfan Khan, has now been roped in for the American series, Dune: Prophecy. She will star opposite British actors Olivia Williams and Emily Watson. The series marks her debut in a Hollywood web series and is an extension of the Timothy Chamelet starring movies which released in theatres.

About Tabu’s role in Dune: Prophecy

Tabu will be playing Sister Francesca on the show, according to a report on Variety. Described as ‘strong, intelligent and alluring,’ she is promised to leave a lasting impression. Once a great love of the Emperor, she returns to the palace which now has a shift in power balance in the capital.

About the show

Initially titled Dune: Sisterhood, the show was announced back in 2019. The plot, in fact, is adapted from the book, Sisterhood of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson. The show will speak of the journey of two Harkonnen sisters, who formed the legendary sect, which came to be known as Bene Gesserit. It is not yet confirmed which platform would the show release on.

The series stars Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Mark Strong, Johdi May and Sarah-Sophie Boussnina alongside Tabu. Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, and Shalom Brune-Franklin will also be seen in lead roles on the show.

Dune: Prophecy is set in the same world as the Timothee Chamelet’s films. It is about what happened 10,000 years before the rise of Paul Atreides. A third film of Dune is also in the works and whether it releases before or after the show is still unclear.

Tabu’s return to Hollywood and her last project in Bollywood

Tabu was a part of The Namesake, which released in 2006. Her last Hollywood film was Life of Pi. Also starring Irrfan Khan, the Oscar-winning movie was out in 2012.

In Bollywood, Tabu’s last appearance was in Crew. The actress was seen opposite Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon. The movie went on to become a Box Office hit and being a female-led film, it went on to pave the way for female-led content-driven films to release in theatres post COVID-19.
