Kannada actor Nagabhushana, who was last seen onscreen in Kousalya Supraja Rama, has been arrested, after his car was involved in an accident with a couple walking on a footpath, which resulted in the death of one. On Saturday evening at about 9 pm, an elderly couple – Krishna and Prema - headed out for a post-dinner routine walk near their residence in Vasanthpura. The duo was walking on the footpath, when Nagabhushana, who was returning home in his car rammed into them. Krishna and Prema sustained injuries in the accident. Nagabhushana took them to hospital, but Prema died en route to the hospital, succumbing to her head injuries. Krishna remains in hospital, while Nagabhushana has been arrested by the Kumaraswamy Layout police.

The police complaint against the actor states speeding and negligent driving and investigation into the incident is ongoing. It is being alleged that the actor was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident when he was at the wheel of the car, but the police has now confirmed that following a medical test there was no alcohol in his system. Nagabhushana is likely to be released on station bail after due procedures.
