The second season of ZEE5's historical drama Taj: Divided by Blood has been revealed. The producers said in a statement that the new season, titled Taj: Reign of Revenge, would begin airing on May 12, with new episodes being released every Friday. Starring Naseeruddin Shah as Emperor Akbar, Dharmendra as Shaikh Salim Chisti, Aashim Gulati as Prince Salim, Shubham Kumar Mehra as Prince Daniyal, and Sandhya Mridul as Queen Jodha Bai, the eight-part series will continue to include these actors.

The events of Taj: Reign of Revenge will take place 15 years later in season 2. It will chronicle Akbar's contrite efforts to make amends with Salim. Meanwhile, fresh contenders will enter the bloody struggle for the Mughal throne.

In the new season, Mitansh Lulla, Jiansh Agarwal, and Sauraseni Maitra will join the cast. Manish Kalra, Chief Business Officer, ZEE5 India, said in a statement that the first season of the show received immense affection from the fans, and they look forward to canvassing a fresh chapter of Taj in season two with more exciting circumstances unfolding to keep our viewers engaged.

Fearing that his sultanate may collapse upon his death, Emperor Akbar reaches out to Salim, who has been in exile for the past 15 years following Anarkali's demise. Salim is determined to avenge his lost love, even if his father is hot on his trail. Meanwhile, there are many within the kingdom who are plotting to use the current circumstances to their advantage and crown Khusrau king. However, Salim has his own vile agenda on which he aims to unleash his anger, and after some shady manoeuvring, he eventually takes his seat on the trailer's titular throne.

In Taj: Reign of Revenge, 15 years after being banished, Salim goes on a murderous quest for revenge against those responsible for the death of his beloved.
