Two of the most highly anticipated Bollywood movies of this year are Shamshera and Brahmāstra. And both of these films have one thing in common – Ranbir Kapoor. The actor is making a comeback to the silver screen four years after his last film, Sanju.

Kapoor, who entered the film industry as an assistant director to Sanjay Leela Bhansali, made his acting debut with Saawariya in 2007. The film failed to impress critics and was a box office failure. However, the year 2009 transformed his career as all three of his films — Wake Up Sid, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, and Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year — received plaudits from critics and fans, and he cemented his place in Bollywood.

Kapoor went on to star in several films such as Raajneeti, Rockstar, Barfi, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. His portrayal of Sanjay Dutt in Rajkumar Hirani's Sanju earned him his sixth Filmfare Award. His next film Shamshera is slated to hit theatres on 22 July.
