The Tamil remake of Amit Sharma's Badhaai Ho was announced earlier this year with RJ Balaji and Soorarai Pottru fame Aparna Balamurali stepping into Ayushmann Khurrana's and Sanya Malhotra's shoes respectively. Titled Veetla Viseshanga, the film will be directed by Balaji himself along with NJ Saravanan. The duo had earlier directed Nayanthara-starrer Mookuthi Amman which was premiered on Disney+ Hotstar last year. The latest about the remake is that the crew is all set to go on floors in Coimbatore in the coming week. Interestingly, this is the second film in Tamil with the title Veetla Viseshanga. Bhagyaraj's film, released in 1994, which had music by Ilaiyaraaja, was the first to release with the same title.

Balaji, who has been a name to reckon with in RJing, started donning the greasepaint from 2013 though he got the major break in Vignesh Shivan's Vijay Sethupathi-Nayanthara-starrer Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. The success of KR Prabhu's LKG, a social satire in which he played the protagonist, in the role of a political leader, was a big boost for his acting career. Sathyaraj and Urvashi are said to be playing the roles essayed by Gajraj Rao and Sheeba Chaddha in the Hindi version. Urvashi was also seen in a prominent role in Mookuthi Amman, playing Balaji's mother in it, too. Boney Kapoor, who has bankrolled Ajith-starrers Nerkonda Paarvai and Valimai, is producing the movie.

It is heard that the project will be wrapped up in a single shot, after which Balaji is said to team up with director Ram. He also has MS Arjun's Prabhudheva-starrer Yung Mung Sung. On the other hand, Aparna, who was last seen in Theethum Nandrum in Tamil, is said to be in talks with Muthiah's next project which will have the director join hands with Karthi again after Komban.

Badhaai Ho is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
