Filmmaker Dayal Padmanabhan was in the midst of planning the release of his next directorial, Ombatthane Dikku and had just announced its trailer launch on November 2, when news of Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar’s passing trickled in. His death shook Sandalwood, with many still unable to come to terms with the loss. Sadly, the actor’s death coincided with the release of his brother Shivarajkumar’s film release, Bhajarangi 2, and there have been calls for normalcy to restore and let the show go on.

In keeping with this spirit, Dayal has not only decided to go ahead with the trailer launch today, but has also dedicated the film to the late actor. “Life has to move-on: We team Ombatthane Dikku dedicate our upcoming Action Thriller to Sri.Puneeth Rajkumar 🙏🙏🙏As per the schedule, The Trailer launch will take place tomorrow at 6.30 pm,” he wrote on social media yesterday.

Dayal followed that up this morning, with an announcement that Tamil star Arya would be doing the honours of launching the trailer. He wrote, “Glad to announce that Actor Arya will be launching the Trailer of our Action Thriller Ombatthane Dikku at 6.30 pm today on all his social media handles..!”

Dayal, who has also produced the film, is looking at releasing it in theatres in early December, although a formal announcement on this is yet to be made. Talking to us earlier about the film, he had said, ““This is a fantastic crime thriller, narrated in non-linear manner, based on an adapted screenplay that I got the rights for. There is an emotional family element in the tale, as well as a totally unexpected climax. It’s quite an unpredictable story, in which a bag becomes more important to the narrative than the hero himself. I would sum up Ombatthane Dikku as a suspense thriller that will appeal to family audiences, as there is no bloodshed, violence or sex,” says Dayal, adding, “This is not to say it is not for mass audiences. I think it is a film that is balanced for both single-screen and multiplex crowds.”
