For the unversed, upon its release, Tandav became a critically acclaimed show that had fans asking for more. But that did not stop those who enjoyed the show from demanding a second season. However, Amazon never moved forward with it, leaving fans disappointed. Now, Dino Morea has revealed that they never received permission to make a second season. As per Pinkvilla, Dino Morea, while talking about Tandav and why Season 2 was never made, said, "There was a show we did for Amazon (Tandav) that caused a lot of trouble. Tandav was based on politics, yes, but it was a fantastic show. Season 2 was never made because they didn’t get permission to go ahead with it. Saif is always lovely to work with, and I had a great time on the show."

Interestingly, Dino Morea was also a part of the JioCinema (formerly Hotstar) series The Empire, a magnum opus that faced a similar fate—Season 2 never happened. He explained, "The plan was to continue the story—from Babur to Humayun, then Aurangzeb, Shahjahan, and Akbar. That was the idea, but as of now, the plan has been canceled."
He further added, "Even though the show performed really well, they decided not to go ahead with Season 2. I don’t know exactly why, but for now, the plan is off the table." While both Tandav and The Empire had strong narratives and devoted fan bases, external factors seem to have prevented their continuation.
